Famous Mothers Around the World

Many women, throughout history, meant something more than just being mothers. Their status, their personal experiences influenced the world, the mentality, the history, and, eventually, they've changed us and our personal beliefs.

Who are these women?

The youngest mother ever: Lina Medina, who delivered a 6½-pound boy by cesarean section in Lima, Peru in 1939, at an age of 5 years and 7 months.
The child was raised by his grandparents, not knowing that his older sister was, in fact, his mother. He found out the truth at the age of ten.

The world's oldest mother: Satyabhama Mahapatra, an old school teacher in India, gave birth to a very healthy baby at the age 65.
The baby was conceived through artificial insemination using eggs from the woman's 26-year-old niece, and the sperm of Veenarani's husband.

The record for the most surviving children from a single birth goes to a family in the United States. Bobbie McCaughey gave birth to the first set of surviving septuplets - four boys and three girls.
She conceived her children using in vitro fertilization, and she delivered after 31 weeks by cesarean in the span of 16 minutes.

Mother Teresa is certainly the mother of all mothers. She was one of the most famous mothers, helping the world's poor, lepers and downtrodden for decades.
