Sex After Giving Birth

You have successfully given birth to a healthy and beautiful baby. Lots of men will expect that everything will instantly go back to normal.

Well, that's not exactly true. Sex after birth surely happens. But don't imagine it will feel exactly the same.

After giving birth, your body needs to rest and heal. That's why it's recommended you waiting four to six weeks before resuming intercourse.
This allows time for the cervix to close, postpartum bleeding to stop, and any tears or repaired lacerations to heal.

If you're breastfeeding, because of the hormones, your vagina will feel kind of dry, so, take it slow and perhaps use a lubricating cream or gel.

It's important you feel good during sex, right? As said earlier, your body needs time to heal, and this time differs from person to person.
That's why some women - because of all the changes and hormones and new emotions - don't gain their interest in sex pretty soon.

A particular thing need to be mentioned. Whether you go all the way and have intercourse, or you just play with your partner, it's important that oral sex shouldn't be performed by the man on the woman. Why's that?

Well, first of all, because the woman's body is so fragile after giving birth, it could introduce infection into the vagina uterus (womb). And, believe it or not, it may cause death.
There are a number of cases in which the male managed to blow air into the vagina. Air can very easily get into the blood vessels of the newly-delivered uterus - and cause an often fatal illness called "air embolism".

As soon as you feel ready and your body's recovered, you may proceed having intercourse. For the first few sex sessions after childbirth, it's a good idea to choose a position in which the woman can control the pace and depth of penetration.
A position with her on top, or one where both partners lay side-by-side facing each other, may be more comfortable.
And remember to use contraception, it's very easy to become pregnant again, far sooner you intended.
